Default Volvo original wiper blades too big

Just wondering, has anyone replaced their wiper blades recently using original Volvo parts (part# 32237900, "RHD XC90 05-14")?

I bought a set from my local dealer a couple of weeks back and just got around to fitting them. The passenger side blade is about 10-15mm longer than the old one it's replacing. Just long enough to strike both the side of the A Pillar and the top edge of the wing panel on each return stroke.

As far as I can see, their construction is such that it isn't possible to just trim it down and replace the end cap, so they are going back.

Out of interest - how much did you pay?

I just replaced mine with Bosch blades (which fit perfectly) from these guys https://www.wiperblades.co.uk/

They cost me £26.17 inc delivery (next day)

Cheers

Dave

£35.82 inc. Vat

Which I'd have been fine with, had they actually fitted correctly.

Do you recall which size(s) of wiper you purchased? I'm not sure how blade sizes are measured but if I press my old ones flat against a straight edge, then the driver side is nearly 28", the passenger 25.5". That's considerably larger than the 24/21" set which the site you quoted is suggesting for a 2007 XC90.

24/21 - exactly same size as the old ones

If you use that site you might find which Volvo the blades you have are meant to fit? (so you can tell your supplier his job)

Cheers

According to Volvo's packaging, they are supposed to fit the Gen. 1 XC90, amongst other models (see photo). And they *very nearly* do.

If sizing is based on flat, linear length of the entire assembly, then 24/21 is much smaller than the worn out Volvo originals which I've just removed (and which fitted fine).

I'll run a tape measure over my old and new blades and report back

Cheers
