Default v70 leaking screen after replacement-year ago

Just discovered my carpets were very wet,so took seats out and carpets to find a pool of water mainly on the passenger side, but also wet on drivers side, got my pal to do the hosepipe on it and a steady trickle is coming down from the area of the front of the door-i am thinking its the screen pillars area and water is running down the inside of the pillar trims and going onto the floor. My question is this- i had the screen replaced just over 12 months ago by an national independent through the insurance and they claim a guarantee for the life of the car so long as it's the same owner-can i request they take the screen out and re-bond it or could they say they will just seal it externally with some form of sealer-would that be safe,as it's supposed to be bonded.I just want to know what your thoughts are before i contact them as they are saying on their website theyr'e only fixing key workers cars.

If it is leaking then as you say is isn't bonded properly.

Part of modern vehicle body strength comes from a correctly bonded screen. On that basis of maintaining full safety I would not accept anything other than a screen removal, the bonding sealant cleaned off and then screen resealed and seated correctly.

Just before going down the return and re-bond route it might be worth trying to pinpoint the source of the leak more accurately.

I guess you will have already looked at the drain holes under the wiper spindles, if these are blocked then the water will arrive on the floor of the car (don't ask how I know!) These often accumulate leaves , dirt and another detritus which can be awkward to shift.

The other sources can be around the door seals, and on other cars I have worked on there are drains built into the door pillars with a rubber cap which should be self draining but can still block.

Good luck

Thanks, yes i did clean out the old leaves/debris on the scuttle plastic, also they didn't re fit that properly as they left a gap between the bottom trim so water could get in there as well, but that drained out ok,i will remove the inside pillar trims and hosepipe again, that should show it coming in.I also agree regarding removal and re bonding,as a seal with the caulk gun around the edges just seems a bodge job.

To recap,i removed the pillar trims-[don't forget to twist the top safety plastic clip through 90 degrees when you first pop the top clip free] on facelift models,i then hose piped the full windscreen and not a drop came through,so i drove it through a car wash and the saw drips were coming in from the nearside in line with the front of the roof grab rail,it was getting in on the inside door jamb rubber inside lip that lips onto the headlining and was tracking down the rubber and dripping inline with the front edge of the door down the cill.It would seem it's leaking from the roof rail front pod,so good news and bad, hope i don't have to take the headlining out to fix it so here i go back searching the forum again.
