Default V70 D2 1.6D 2014 Service Scheudle

Morning All,

I've recently bought a V70 D2 1.6D 2014 model, with 68,000miles on the clock which I'm loving

It came with FSH up to 55,000mls and I've been searching to find when the timing belt replacement should be done, but returned loads of differing opinions, and there doesn't appear to be any helpful info in the owners manual or service schedule book...!

The service schedule book just says service 'every 12,500 miles' but doesn't actually say what needs servicing every 12,500...

Does anyone have the details of what needs servicing when for this age of car? I normally do services myself, so want to make sure I'm servicing the right bits at the right time, especially when it comes to belts etc...

Attached picture of the new steed!

Cheers,

Jon

Cambelt interval was changed to 87500 miles or 10 years a few years ago

Jon,

I have these for the D4162T engine which may be of use. As Clan has highlighted amendments, I would just use as reference as not sure on age/validity etc.

Thanks all, much appreciated. I double checked with a dealer on the phone and those service schedules and cambelt change intervals were what they quoted

Don’t wait more than a year or around 8k miles to change to oil although Volvo says 12500k that’s waiting a bit too long. I do mine around 5k miles because I’ve heard of turbo feed pipe getting blocked and causing the turbo to fail when it otherwise wouldn’t have and its only £30 all in for Castrol and a decent filter, takes me 30 mins max so why not? Lol .

Mine had a leaking water pump at around 100k so the previous owner had the belt and water pump done then so I’d say 90k to start thinking about booking it in or 10 years old better safe than sorry in regards to the timing belt also do the aux belt while you’re there. The previous owners kept up with the Volvo history so it was well looked after.

Fuel filter will want changing yearly or depending on your mileage and fuel quality as that will cause issues if left too long, mines got some ticking noise under acceleration from the injectors and they are a common failure point but I’m hoping it’s my MAF sensor/fuel filter/ air filter causing the injectors to go out of spec. I have to do some more digging before I’m sure. Or else it’s about £1000 for them to be replaced even if I did it myself it wouldn’t be much cheaper!

These things are minor compared to how good these cars are on fuel and quality that a Volvo gives in spades, I love my Volvo V70 it’s an awesome car, gets down the road well and I don’t look like a knob driving it so I don’t mind a few niggles here and there, mostly due to age. She just passed her MOT only needing 2 tyres! shes on 115k now and is a 1.6 R design Drive model same engine as you have I believe but yours maybe updated I’m not sure on that. Look after her and she will look after you I guarantee it.

thread hijack, im interested to find out a little more about the V70 D2 - MPG is reported as good, how do you both find it?

Any issues? Im aware its a shared PSA engine (Ford/Peugeot) - i had a 2.0 PSA in my V50 and couldnt fault it.

Fuel consumption is great around 50mpg on a run depending on how you drive it, 6th gear at 70 it should sip diesel. Around town it’s good too. I drive mine a bit heavy footed and it still doesn’t drink it, I think the least I’ve gotten is 40mpg recently but mine has an issue with the fuelling.

it will sit at 80/90 on the motorway(not wise as it doesn’t get you where you’re going any faster than at 70mpg) and not be loud or feel like it’s at it’s limit.

I’d never thought a small Diesel engine in a big car would work but it does work and well imo. If I was buying another I’d seriously consider another PSA engine but only one that has been well looked after. The things that go are injectors around 100k, DMF, turbo feed pipes causing turbo to fail which is why you want one that’s had it’s oil changed at around 8k/10k each time, probably missing things but to sum up the MPG is great for a big car and tax is £30 a year on my v70.
