Question Brake Pad Recommendation - Aftermarket

Going to be in need of some brake pads in the very near future.

Could someone recommend a good quality pad for my 2013 V40 D4. Obviously best possible stopping power, preferably with low dust and NO squeal.

Having a look at ATE, Ferodo, TRW, Zimmerman but no personal experience with either.

Maybe two of your requirements are possible but low dust usually means less stopping power. The most important part of this equation is matching pads to discs. Most pad manufacturers spend a lot of development money on testing disc materials.
The other forgotten part of braking is the quality of the fluid. I work for an organisation that changes the fluid every 9 months. And the procedure includes a complete drain of the fluid behind the pad.

Well it would be nice to have it all but I know it's not always possible.

The car has only done 27000klms and still has the original discs & pads fitted. Heaps of meat still on the discs so will keep them - just needs some guidance on good performance aftermarket pads.

The original pads fitted to the car out of the factory would have been ATE (They supply Volvo).

I don't think you could go wrong with them.

Thanks Andy. Got Ferodo's for the XC70 ordered but can't find any down here for the V40; and the ATE distributor wants almost $400 for their pads - that's even more than genuine pads which may be the same.

Might have to import them (for less than half the price delivered) if I can't find an acceptable alternative.

Good price on autodoc but no country listing for shipping to Australia - have written to them to ask.

Found Spareto parts in Estonia that ships here but some other online store suggestions would certainly be welcomed.

I'm not 100% sure. ATE or TRW seem to be stamped on Volvo calipers though, so I'm presuming either of these brands could have had some involvement with manufacturing multiple brake parts for Volvo's.
