Default C70 phase 1 coupe door latch removal

Well, my car is on the drive, and the door is flapping..

I've undone the 2 latch screws, removed the outer door lock, disconnected the pull cable from inside door opener. Disconnected the cables to the latch and the door warning light and realised the cables. But do you think I can get the latch out of the door aperture?

I've unscrewed the window channel bolt, and I can get the latch 3/4 out from the bottom of the door. Less so if I try moving it towards the top of the door. Any ideas/tips for removal. Spent an hour already trying to get it out!!

Looks easier on a V70/S70 due to the wider inner door aperture, but less so on a phase 1 coupe.

Nightmare..

Done.

Interior pull handle cable needed to be treaded below loosened window channel bolt so both it and the latch could pass underneath and be removed from the bottom of the door (unlike S70/V70 Haynes manual).

Tips? Auto electrician said give the secondhand latch motor a clean (with contact cleaner) and then spray 100% Silicon lubricant on it). Worked a treat.

Getting the second of the motor connectors on with the latch in the door was a struggle. If you can do it with the motor at the bottom of the door, it's a lot easier. As is removing the cable ties (x2) which clip into the inner door frame (to stop the latch snagging when trying to remove it) along with moving the door warning light cabling to the outside and prying free the big round rubber cable grommet to give yourself more wriggle room.

When putting it all back together (relatively easy) remember to check the door glass doesn't pop out at the top corner when you shut the door hard. If it does , loosen off the window channel retaining bolt (which you may have overtightened on fit up).

Door locks, unlocks on the remote and the door warning light works. So result. Just need to do the same on the passenger side. But not today!

Dang!
I did that same on my -99 c70 passenger side today, only I wasn't as patient as you, so I dismantled everything and used the spare part I took from my donor -98 c70. With the window mechanism out of the way, the job was easy, albeit very time consuming in the removal and refitting of everything and fine fettling of the window to get it to seal properly.

Excellent write up there, and I will try that if I need to on the drivers side.
