Ball part from detachable towbar
I've got a genuine tow bar on my XC60 but for some reason the detachable part doesn't seem to engage properly so I'm after another one, anyone got one kicking around they don't want please?
Thanks Ed. |

I have to fiddle with mine as it doesn't seem to catch on the first four or five goes. Keep meaning to spray some silicone lubricant in there to see if that makes a difference.

Does it sort of latch in but rattles?
For some reason when I turn the knob it doesn't latch in the "removed" position so when I put the ball in I have to hold it against the spring and then let it go. |

Yep, same as mine. Takes a few goes to get it to lock in place so I can lock it with the key. Feels loose until I get it to sit correctly.

I had the same where. The catch was not fully engaging at the back end, clean with fine sand paper, clean so slider which is spring loaded is free, lube shaft. Also clean the two recess the the removable towbar pins fit into as after a while this builds up with dirt use fine sand paper on a round bar. Also clean the round pins on removeable towbar as well.
Mine now goes clonk click. |

Thanks guys, I’ll have another play with it then.
I’ve already lubed up the tongue that comes out the back and think it’s quite free but haven’t tried cleaning up the pins or the cups the pin sits into. Was it on the back of the actual socket that you cleaned it up to get it to latch it? |
