Default V70 D5 Woes

Hi Been A 850 Tdi Owner For 3 Years Liked It So Much Also Purchased A V70 D5 With 120 K On A 02, 6 Months Ago.

In This Time Had Bulbs Blow, Anti Roll Bar (pins?) Replaced, Exhaust Mounting Replaced, Electrics (seat Belt Warning Emitter/rear Wiper) Work Intermittently And Now The Air Con Compressor (clutch?) Needs Replacing. It Sounds Like A Cement Mixer Is Under The Bonnet.
For The Last Fault For Which It Is In The Garage Presently I Have Been Quoted £300 + Vat To Fix.

Im In Shock The 850 Is Bullet Proof Only Costing A Few Hundred A Year In Servicing The V70 Is Costing A Fortune.

Should I Get Rid Of Her Now?

when you buy any 2nd hand car without a warranty - you need to have some rainy day money.. the question is, how much is reasonable for a big car that has done 120,000 miles.. which maybe is OK for the diesel block.. but A/c unit would have done a few cycles in that time..

having had a 2nd hand BMW diesel.. bought at 10k miles just out of warranty.. and then needing to sink more than £4,000 worth of servicing and repair bills to get it to 50k miles i.e. 10p/mile..

£300 seems quite cheap.

I think the crucial question is how much did you pay for the car ??? less than £6000 ?
Yes its worth getting it up to scratch then off it goes for another 120000+ miles ;-)

yep thats a fair comment ! I think i have made a mistake ,paid 7000 for it , se with leather, best stereo etc. also it was sold to me as having everything done nothing else needed to be spent, that being cam belt, new discs, pads. I stupidly didnt budget for anything else which unfortunatly is starting to happen, which has been pointed out to be expected of a car of this mileage etc.

Im now worried after reading up on it that the valves may fail and that the turbo could potentially fail, both i think expensive fixes. I will sell it and put it done to experience, will still keep my 850 tdi that goes on and on and the engine is far more powerfull than the d5 is it not made by volvo.

cheers.
