Unhappy XC60 T6 service cost

I am happy with my XC60 T6 apart for the fuel consumption which is making it very expensive car to run. At the first service at 12K miles I was charged £340 I think they changed oil and filter. The next yearly service which is due soon 25K is going to cost £420 for changing oil, filter, and pollen filter. I think this is steep but would like to know from you knowledgeable people if I am being unreasonable. A service by any one of 4 independent garages (Non Volvo) charge a maximum of £280. I have two questions

1. is the charge of £420 reasonable?
2. If I am to use a Non-volvo garage will this invalidate my warranty. The car is leased and it comes to the end of its lease in 7 month. I do want to look after it well but I am not keeping it. I just feel my Volvo agent is taking advantage. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Zoro

Maybe that's why they don't sell many T6's, that and the fuel consumption!

Just booked my D3 in for its 18K service for 3 weeks time and have been quoted £240. I'm happy enough with that!

Firstly this T6 petrol turbo engine is on 18000 service intervals not 12500 .
I would look into that .

secondly yes it is a bit steep for 48 minutes work , parts and oil would not be cheap but ask for an itemised bill .

the 36000 service ( 2nd year or second service ) is about 80 minutes .

I would try and find out what the hourly labour rate is in various dealers and choose accordingly .
An Independant would be ok in the warranty period as long as they use "parts of equal quality" ie genuine parts . Don't the leasing company choose the servicing agent or insist on a dealer ?

main dealers will rip you off - take it to a good specialist.
