This pictures says it all (yellow upward next to the connector.). I have no doubt that it is correct:

That other picture I posted in post # 37 needs to be removed. It will probably cause someone some grief in the future.

Without the pic in post #37, the rest of the thread doesn't make sense. If people bother to read, they'll find out.

Well if they are like me, and had the same problem, they might just search images, which is what I tried to do. Matter of fact, I spent a lot of time doing so. Even downloading engine pictures and trying to zoom in. Of course, right after posting I was able to find that picture, which was the only one I could find. Some pictures of the used valves for sale had splotches of white/yellow paint next to the nozzles, but I wanted to be sure. I tried just swapping the hoses around, but both ways, the engine would run fine. That lugging problem only happened occasionally. Anyway, all is good. I dread having to solve the AC problem, but that is next on my list.

You've identified that pictures are only half the story, you still need to do other research to confirm what is and isn't correct though.

Thus to get someone to confirm it would be the hot ticket. I couldn't find any other reference on the net mentioning the orientation.
