Hi sorry to jump on the thread but did anyone have any knowledge of replacing the whole MOST system with a analogue radio? Or even just removing the amp and using a tablet as a head unit?
I’m guessing the MOST system is just for the entertainment system and not for anything else? |

Not true.
The MOST network carries data for 8 modules, which also control the phone, satnav, antenna, and audio warnings.

That's not possible, as there is more to it than just the "radio". Eg. the PDC and a few other things. It will give you error codes.
In the early days of the XC90 there were people, who dismantled the radio unit and put the modules behind a new radio unit. But that's difficult and not very nice. Nowadays you can do a lot more, it depends on what you want to spend, and how much time you want to invest. There are ways how you can wire the steering wheel controls in, as well as using an aux-in via the antenna in the back. If you want to use a tablet, you can do so, if you have an aux-in. With an aux-in you also could use AndroidAuto on an RPi. Recently I stumbled upon a Android head unit, that is specially made for the XC90 Mk1 (around 700.-). What do you want to achieve and how much budget do you have? And for what car is it exactly (MY and sound system)? And if it is only because something doesn't work, what is not working?

So my car is a v70 p3 with a high performance sound system. Which at the moment does the 2nd push of the power button comes on then turns off after the loading screen. I believe it’s the amp that isn’t working as I’ve checked the fibre optic connection on the control module and the CD player and they both have a lights showing out of them, just the amp that doesn’t have a light coming out of the module itself.
I’ve been looking at some of the pioneer modular systems you can buy like the SPH-EVO62DAB-UNI which I can install the screen and the module in different places, I would leave the MOST system in and just put one of these systems in replace the amp with a different one and wire the speakers in to that. And then wire it to turn on when the ignition is on. The estimated cost of the would be about £500 ish but would give me all the phone interface I need for driving. What are your thoughts on that? |

Did you resolve this?
I had a similar issue .. sounded like interference. Sent the ICM to Volvo Diagnostics and as part of the refurb they found the fibre optic connectors were filthy. They cleaned and problem went away |
