Default Haldex Gen 3 correct fluid level query please.

Hi, recently I have given the Haldex assembly on my 2007 XC90 D5 a good service and this includes

1. Remove and clean pump

2. Replace filter.

3. Replace pinion oil seal.

4. New CV joint on end of propshaft.

All of this was done with the rear of the car on high lift ramps so consequently the old fluid had ample opportunity to drain out from several points.

My query is this, I rolled the car down the ramps and then filled the Haldex unit with correct Volvo AOC oil until it trickled from the fill point.

I then took the car for a short drive and topped up the Haldex unit again until it began to trickle out and then replaced the fill plug.

I have since read that according to Vida and some youtube videos , everything I have done is correct but I must now remove 40ml of oil to get the AOC fluid level correct.

Now this would only take me a minute or so to do but why on earth provide a fill/level plug on the Haldex unit if it is not going to provide the correct level when full.

Why the hell not manufacture it with the hole so as to give 40 ml less when full.

When looking at other makes of vehicles equipped with Haldex, they all just fill to the point of fluid dribbling back out so why do Volvo have to be different, it makes no sense.

What have others done re the fluid level when servicing theirs .

I haven't used the car since topping the fluid up so no harm done if it is essential to remove that 40ml.

Haynes book of lies simply says fill till it runs back out which makes more sense than Vida.

Meant to say but can't edit original post

Haynes even says fill it and then remove a further 40ml.

Weird

Hi, I removed the 40 ml. Still seems silly
