Default Tyre insurance XC90

Anyone got tyre insurance (not Volvo one on new models) just wondered if it’s any good any they pay out for pot holes. Seems to good to be true £300 for 5 tyres especially when they are £300 plus a tyre.

Do you really go through enough tyres to make it worthwhile spending £300 every year on insurance? For that to make sense you need to claim for more than one tyre a year, if you did that I'm sure the premium would increase for future years.

Edit: I've just seen your other post - wow. I have nice fat tyres on small wheels, I've never damaged a tyre in living memory.

It's not per year - it's £300 as a one off.

First rule of any insurance - if they can reject your claim, they will.

Small print will have all the get outs. Usually a sliding scale of how much they'll pay out vs wear.

Some of the bigger tyre dealers like National tyres give free tyre insurance on premium brand tyres.

I paid £7.50 per tyre back in 2021 for new 22" Pirelli's.
Insurance covers any damage and free punctures for the life of the tyre.

This month I had a slow puncture on the OSR.
Back to National tyres and they found the tiniest of punctures unfortunately in the outer tread band that they wouldn't free repair. So it's a warranty replacement claim.
Easy as pie, no arguments, they give discount based on the amount of tread left.

>7mm left then 100% Discount
>6mm left then 80% Discount
>5mm left then 60% Discount
>4mm left then 40% Discount
>3mm left then 25% Discount
>2mm left then 5% Discount
<2mm left then nil

Mine was 80% Discount after 14k miles, plus the insurance continues with the new tyre.
