Very late reg'd 240.

I spotted this on eBay, and what's puzzling me is, 1993 "K" plate 240; I thought 1990 was the latest you could get a 240 saloon?
OK guys, prove me wrong!

This is perfectly OK as the last 200 series cars rolled off the production line in 1993. This meant that Volvo had three cars of a similar size and purpose in production at the same time. Namely the 200 series, 900 series and the 850 series.

You can get even later 240s than that. Although 1993 = K, I have seen quite a few with L plates, and once an M.

I presume these must be late registrations of 1993 cars, that have for some reason been standing at dealers. If so they would not be good buys - sitting unused for a year or two is not the best treatment for a car.
Or did Volvo run up a few after-date 240s just to use up the parts?

K reg is August 1992-July 1993 L reg is August 1993-July 1994 there is a L reg 240 Volvo Estate on EBAY at the moment

Yeah, I knew the estates went on for a short while, it's saloons that I thought stopped around 1991.
