Default Fitting mud flaps to a XC60

Hi just thought I'd share this with everyone, an easy guide to fitting mud flaps to a MY14.5 R Design XC60. I would think fitting them to the other models would be the same or similar.
In all it took me about 15 mins, I used genuine Volvo flaps and I didn't remove any trim or wheels or jack the car.
The Volvo dealer offered to fit them for me with a charge of £60+ vat.

Tools required
1/4 ratchet with a Torx driver and adaptor.

You can use the original screws or the new one supplied they are both the same. Undo the bolts, hold the appropriate flap in place and reinsert the screws, making sure the trim goes in the right place. Its as simple as that.

question, I had mudflaps on the last XC60 - worked really well - but according to all the sources the existing mudflaps only work up to 2013 - what years are the ones you fitted meant to work up until?

If yours are also deigned to fit earlier models then I can get some to fit mine

The Part no are 31359683 and 31359684. My XC60 is a 14.5 R Design built in 2014.
On the invoice it said 'General Fit'. A check with Volvo parts would clarify.

I have just gone through this. The mud flaps for the pre '14 XC60 models do not fit the MY14's.

Would have fitted them myself too but unfortunately my new car arrived at the dealer the day I travelled overseas to work. Wife picked up the car last week so had to get the dealer to fit them. Total cost for 4 mudflaps fitted was £160!!! (inc Vat) Said they had to take the wheels off - which as I suspected was sh**te and unnecessary. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Still another 4 weeks till I get home!

There are indeed specific MY14 mudflaps as I've just ordered some and bigbadbob has supplied the correct part numbers for those.

LAC you might want you check out the official fitting instructions in the above link, no mention of removing wheels, in fact it tells you just to turn the fronts to the side to provide easier access! So your assumptions re the dealers were spot on, unsurprisingly!

Thanks for the link. Even shows the wheels still fitted in the diagram!

Yesterday I received the Volvo customer satisfaction survey about the purchasing process so added comments about the charge for fitting the mud flaps on a brand new car.

Question on the survey - Would you like the dealer to receive the information from the survey - eh yes please!!!
Probably do no good but good to vent frustration anyway.

Salesman we dealt with even felt guilty about the charge.
