Car is uncomfortable
Anyone recommend some decent shocks? (or even OEM ones?)
Car is starting to get rather crashy... only made worse by the recent uprated Elevate roll bar. |

Huh? You mean shock are worn and too wobbly now or you want to upgrade?
Be careful with any non-OEM ones as with all possible permutations of our suspension you can end up with very unbalanced car :/ (ie my attempt to save money with rear shocks, for example). best thing to decode your suspension, get OEM part numbers to atleast know what to look for.

Ride is starting to get a bit rough over speed bumps/uneven surfaces etc.
Having said that my housemate's C30 is no better in terms of comfort yet it has half the miles of mine and is much newer. I think I'll go OEM (Sachs is it?). |

Im not sure the rear anti roll bar is part of that ride being crashy as it just reduce body roll?
With the ride being crashy, if you are after comfy, I would stick with OEM which im not sure what they are but others have used Bilstein b4 dampers instead as the OEM's are quite a price.

I had a 4 wheel alignment done at the weekend. Made a big difference, certainly feels less like it's trying to pull me off the road or unpredictable corners. They give a before and after print out also of how straight it all runs. Cost 50 pounds and took and hour for them to do. I was looking at springs and shocks also but probably next year. 10 years of use of a spring and shocks they likely want a change.

I think the dampers just aren't reacting as quickly anymore.
The elevate rear rollbar noticably firmed up the rear axle when driving over an uneven (straight) piece of road. It's effectively making the rear struts a bit less independent than they were. |

Wouldn't advise on coilovers if you're after comfort.
However something like Bilstein B4 and either Eibach or H&R lowering springs should get you a halfway house between comfort and improved cornering.

Yeh I would defenitly have a think about the dampers, will transform the ride if your current ones are worn out.
Some thing else to think about for comfort would be the type of tires you are running? and the psi you have each one at. Maybe also have a check on the coils you have as well? seems to be a comon-ish thing with coils breaking / cracking. I never noticed one of mine had cracked until MOT came and failed, after replacing with some eibach coils the ride was way better. +1 with Yobbo, to stay comfort and close to OEM id go for the B4 and Eibach lowering coils

I replaced our V50 suspension with Sachs shocks and springs (heavy duty rear springs) this year. The car rides way better as a result.
