2012 D5 full sized dipstick
Hi guys hope your all safe and well .
Has anyone changed the Small workshop dipstick to a full sized dipstick on a 2012 S60 D5 215hp I’m fed up of using the electronic one as I service my car every 4 months due to mileage And it always says half full even though I’ve put the full measured recommended amount in I’ve heard the police had them fitted as standard to their D5 as they had to do daily checks on them Do anyone have the part numbers and recommend a dealer to supply them for me please Regards karl bob |

Why would anyone need a full size oil dipstick? I never had any problems with the small one, it works pretty good and it's easy to access.

After doing a few times, you find a knack where to put your arms and pull out the dip stick, when I did this the first 2 times I thought damm lol, now I find easy and my arms are not that slim.
I also check the oil every couple of weeks. |

Hi, I read this post and then proceeded to my Volvo garage and asked them if I could purchase a dipstick dipstick holder for rings and bolts to convert this into a full-size dipstick, but since fitting it it reads the wrong amount of oil as this states 6.9L to full rather than 5.9L.
Has anyone else had this problem when adding a police dipstick to their D5? I have a P3 V70 D5 2012 215bhp |

On a D5 I believe around 2 to 2.5 of the 'X' units along the etched |XXXX| markings equates to 5.8-5.9l of oil. If you fill until all marks are wet then you will have overfilled by 0.5-1.0 litres I reckon. Last edited by RDesign4Life; May 13th, 2023 at 10:42. |

Supposed to be. At my last service I got an overfilled message on the dash after a few days. When I checked my dipstick they had filled it to the very top of the |XXXX| markings. Had to take it back so they could remove some oil.
