Default Wing mirror glass replacement

I took my 2008 V70 out for the first time since lockdown the other day. All was well but I noticed that the passenger side wing mirror was wobbling. It was a bit annoying and I figured I'd just press it back in to whatever it had popped out of when I got home. Annoyingly the glass just fell out of it a few miles later. So I'm replacing the glass but I have a few questions.
I'm in the UK and it's a RHD car. This is the passenger side mirror.
Will a self adhesive glass do the job? I'm worried about the heated mirror not working in winter.
What's a "wide angle mirror"? Do I need one on the left?
Is there a good place to buy one other than ebay?
Basic questions but I'd welcome advice
Thanks in advance.

Interesting! My nearside door mirror has also developed a wobble. Did you ever work out what was going wrong?

The glue holding the glass to the backing plate fails. You can re glue which I did which will work for a time or replace the glass and backing plate, £85 from dealer, £11 to £16 off the auction site. This for heated replacement parts that I cannot see any difference in.

I find my clip on towing mirrors have an effect on the glass and have had the door mirror glass dropping off while towing, spare e bay mirrors for the car are now part of the caravan kit.

Thanks for the information. It certainly seems to be the glue that fails. My drivers side mirror also has a wobble but it's a much higher frequency if that makes sense. Obviously I don't want that lens to fall out so I'm going to glue it back. Can anyone recommend a glue? And a method to get the lens off?

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that the mirror lens sticks over a slightly convex shape to give it a wider angle than flat glass. My car didn't move for a couple of months during which time the weather was quite hot so the glue, which is 12 yrs old anyway, heated and failed but for one point causing it to "rock" over the convex shape. Eventually the last point of glue failed and it fell off. Don't know if that's right but if you've got an old Volvo might be worth checking your mirrors.

Paul.
I have the 3 seat memories set at

1. SWMBO
2. Caravan mirror position.
3. Me- I know my place.

Position 2 leaves my seat in the same position but drops both mirrors down to give a clear view of the caravan wheels when cornering and on roundabouts. I have also trimmed the clamps for the Milenco mirrors a bit to ensure that they do not catch the car mirror glass. Works for me
