Default Paint codes

1965 P1800S Original Colour Pearl White - Code 79

The car is currently being prepared for paint, but the paint supplier is having trouble identifying a modern equivalent paint to use to spray the car. Does anyone have a modern paint manufacturers code or reference for a White paint that is some way close to the original creamy white colour that these cars were painted?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew,
Mine is 79/1, I had a complete respray 2 years ago. There was no problem getting the paint mixed with this paint code.
I would ring a few local paint suppliers to see if they can mix it.
It shouldn't be an issue.
Having the correct colour will possibly help maintain the cars value.
I was told that the 79/1 is a lighter shade of 79.

Thanks volvonic272 - What can I say, other than my supplier is having problems?
You don't happen to have the codes of the paint that was used on your car?

Thanks

That's a pretty poor paint shop. OK they may no longer have a set of old books under the counter but they've only got to have word with the paint suppliers that they use i.e. the technical section of the paint manufacturer. They should also have all of the mix details on their microfiches. If Halfords can mix you a can it doesn't make them look very good!

Ault & Wiborg Volvo 79 Pearl white (dull grey shade) = A&W #32296
Ault & Wiborg Volvo 79 Pearl White (Light shade) = A&W #34583

Dupont Volvo 79 Pearl White (Parlvit) = Dupont # 101358

Those 2 makes quoted as they are the 2 books I have.

Also a competent shop should have an optical reader and standard light source (daylight isn't good enough) to allow them to read the colour. If they attempt to do that make sure they read an unweathered and non UV faded patch, as that's the colour you'll end up with.
