Default Mysterious ticking noise

I have an ticking noise coming from the engine most garages I’ve seen have said it’s the injectors but I’m not sure if that’s a correct diagnosis of the noise. I have read that the noise maybe a hydraulic lifter noise I’ve brought some lifter treatment in case.

It’s due to have a service on Monday so I’m crossing my fingers that the oil change will quieten the noise as I’ve read that the lifters can get noisy when the engine is due a service.

Just to add when the Engine is started from cold the noise is virtually non existent but when the engine is warm it gets more noticeable.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do??

The engine has done 147k and it’s a D5 xc90 2004

Here is a video of the issue,

Injector noise
Not lifters or bearings, if lifters make noise its more likely at startup
If the leakback and balance is ok than ther is nothing to worry about

Sounds like mine and a few others, I would point to injectors also...
Oh and could be wrong but it looks like you may have a leaking injector, either that you spilt sommat, surely that stinks of diesel?

Could you advise on how to diagnose the balance, I a assume its via Vida somehow, perhaps I've even done that already....?

Yes in vida
The balance test you see the different imbalances in rpm pro cillinder and the plus or minus fuel corrections, if they are within limits its ok

Yes i saw it , cilinder 1 is just within limits, like beardaddy said in the other thread if it runs fine dont worry.
If it cranks long at startup, do a leakbacktest to see wich injectors leaks
Excessive leaking=pressure loss and longer crankink at startup
When the engine runs the pump can compensate more for leaking

Cheers chap, just replied, I did replace injector 1 with a second user and that did improve issues vastly but I do have a very slight misfire still, but even that is about 95% better than it was

Sorry OP, crashing ya party here :/
