visit your dealer?

My understanding is that there are multiple elements of software all at different version numbers. If you get a "total software update" (which should be done every service) you'll be up to date for that day, but different parts get updated continuously. So, I don't believe there is an overall version number as such.

There is some high level information on software updates here (scroll down the page a little):

https://www.volvocars.com/en-bh/supp...ftware-updates

My understanding is that Paul is correct. There are tens of electronic modules in the car each with their own software and there is no single overall software version for the car.

No there is no way you can check , only the dealer can , but even then he won't know whether it is the latest number or not .. There is no one piece of software , each module has its own unique software .

There is a software called " Total upgrade" which interrogates the cars modules and updates only those which need updating ... This is what you get on your annual service.
