Default Small lower pipe from the thermostat housing

Hi, not sure if I'm posting correctly but here goes.

Can any help as I maybe asking a numpty question here, I've had my head skimmed on my Dads XC90 with a D5244T4 engine. All has gone well until the last bit, it would seem the lower small pipe coming from the thermostat housing connects to the large metal pipe going over the top of the engine. Unfortunately I didn't take this bit off as my mate was helping me at the time who isn't about at the moment.

I'm asking for help as the metal pipe which goes over the top of the engine is split on two at each end, it would seem pretty obvious that the one goes to the breather pipe at the front of the engine and so it just doesn't make sense that the other split pipe goes to a water pipe.

Can anyone confirm where the small lower pipe from the theromostat housing goes? Just in case I've done something terribly wrong.

Thanks.

The pipe does indeed split in two, one side onto the metal water pipe and up over the top of the engine and the other split goes to the top of the PCV as in the pic below indicated with the yellow arrow

Thanks a lot for that, it looked all OK but, I got a bit paranoid as it looks as though you're putting in water and vent into the same pipe, I'm assuming the pipe is split all the way through then?

I've not been in there so don't know if the pipe is split. I assume the PCV needs to be heated/cooled to operate correctly
