Meant 4 and 1 - it refers to my original post.
1 was do nothing 4 was get another car and take the hit. Was very close to punching the button on an xc90 this morning! Oil was from Opie who are always very quick. Snake oil from a seller on eBay, can’t remember who. |

Opie puzzle me, things are cheaper and faster (usually) via ebay than their own site, mad!

Well I’ve definitely got someone ton thanks for the oil and snake oil suggestion. It’s had a marked improvement and only done about 25 miles since I put the lifter cleaner stuff in. Don’t think I’ll get it perfect, but a lot happier now 😁

With the kind of mileage you have on it you have to expect some mechanical wear and tear as I'm sure you'll know.I'm glad the lifter treatment seems to be playing its part.If I had not had good results from using the lifter treatment or had not used it at all I'd not have suggested it of course but I should have mentioned that it was not an "instant" cure and would take a few miles to do its stuff,I apologise if you were mislead by this omission.Do please keep us informed.

Couldn’t remember who’d suggested it tbh. Wasn’t expecting miracles, and knew it would need some time to work. I’ve been quite surprised how it seems to have improved almost straight away.
Now am I happy that I don’t have to spend much on another car, or major surgery on this one, or sad that I won’t be getting the T5 I now can’t justify? 🙃 |

Went on holiday yesterday and covered about 250miles. Towards the latter end of this I noticed I was somewhat ‘hooning’ around rather than cringing at the racket it makes. Yes! Somewhere on the journey the tapping stopped and it’s still quiet (for a 200k+ car) today. Whoever gave the advice, thank you - it worked 😊 |
