Much obliged sir, seems reasonable at £22.99 if it's a simple plug and play option thus saving me soldering anything and burning the garage down in the process!

I bought one and then found my alarm board was badly destroyed by the acid from the batteries... so then I bought a replacement alarm (from a breaker) which actually works.
I think you need to remove the box from the car as soon as the alarm notice appears on the dashboard so there is no time allowed for the batteries to leak. So I have a spare battery which I can send you for £20 inc postage in the UK if you wish.

I have a spare siren here, as yet unopened so I could just swap them and hope this spare works... but thinking ahead, it'd make sense to replace the battery in the best of the two and use it. I'll get the original removed over the weekend then open it and the spare up and see what's what first but appreciate the offer. |

I’ve just done mine, the circuit board looked like it was knackered, but I carried on regardless, guess what, it worked, at least for now. I did wipe the board over with one of those dish washing type scourer things and a bit of brake cleaner, one side of the board is completely brown, perhaps I’m lucky for now, but it saved £187 on a new one.

Having removed fuse F8 and endured a week or so of buzzing / clicking / general pathetic noises from the siren, it must have eventually accepted I wasn't listening and it's since fallen silent. Still have the alarm service warning service on start up but truth be told, I can live with that for now as time isn't on my side just now to start stripping it out and swapping it but I will do in due course. Haven't touched the spare siren either. Will update when I do!

The bolt that holds the alarm box is the most difficult one to remove - I used a "dremel" tool to flatten one edge and then I used a punch and hammer to rotate the screw. It was not hard to rotate it, then I just used my hand to unscrew it. I did use "WD40" spray on the other side of the bolt which you can access under the bonnet close to the side light assembly. Finally splitting apart the alarm is also a "dremel" time but I also used a hot knife to help. Hope these notes help you to access it quickly and as a good scout, be prepared!

Sorry folks, my alarm light stayed off, but after a couple of days the alarm itself started going off when it felt like it. Bought a new one, asked bells of Northampton for a discount because it’s an old car, he gave me it for £167 instead of £187. Better than nothing, thank bells, so I have a new (eBay) battery that I paid £15 for. If anyone wants it, tenner and a quid postage.
