Default D3 vs D4

Hi Folks.
I am looking for advice, I am considering buying a New XC40 Diesel AWD Inscription, I am wondering which is the better engine of the two D3 or D4.
Tested the XC40 R Design with the D4 AWD and has brilliant power but the car is not available to test with a D3.
I currently drive an Audi Q3 184 BHP diesel Quattro and had been considering dropping an engine size as at my age I no longer need to rush about, Its one of those decisions do I need all that power or will the car drive just as good with the smaller engine, although slightly slower.
I have not driven a Volvo since the 60's.

Thanks

First the engines are all 2L with just different software and turbos.
I would probably stick with the D4. It's not just about the added power, but more about the torque. Nice to have a bit more even if barely ever used.
