It is more like Mann make filters that fit Volvos
On the whole Mann to the best of my knowledge are rarely chosen as an original equipment supplier: But they might have filled a gap once in a while. For items like oil filters I like brands like Knecht that often than not include a washer for a drain plug as well as the filter (only cos I like a little bit of forethought from a supplier) I'm not slagging Mann off - I've bought their products before for different vehicles over the years and they seem to be equally as good as other offerings (despite the lack of forethought!)

I usually buy about 1 dozen copper washers at a time, they are cheap enough.

There are many threads like this one on virtually every automotive forum - some how people are adamant that one brand is the sole supplier and yet at the same time the filters from the dealership appear to be slightly different / thicker / whatever...
Much like the "oil threads" emotions can run high. I've reached the conclusion that it is best to buy a filter from a decent brand - such as Mann / Knecht / Purflex / Malhe - where you feel for that specific point in time you've got the best deal you can. Many people assume the dealership is expensive - this isn't always the case - it is always worth checking even if it is just so you have a benchmark for comparison purposes.
