Sorry for late reply, yes got it done on Saturday. Do notice the extra pull over a longer range in gear (I am manual) and it's a little more torque-er. As someone mentioned before here or on another thread, it nicely refines the vehicle.

That's what I found and I'm manual as well. Now try rapid overtakes and appreciate the smile factor.
Once rolling I hardly ever use the lower 3 gears. 40 to a speed you realy should not be doing in the length of a Ford fiesta while changing up into 6th from 4th as you pass him, the smile takes miles to fade.

Paul.

I am actually glad I got a deal for it at £675. Not as painful on the bank account, although I did save up for it the last few months putting some money to the side. So at least with the deal, that savings pot had change left over! lol! Will just go back into the car maintenance pot I contribute to every month which covers anything that may pop up.

Fuel consumption, I have noticed has slightly improved.

Just adding to this thread as I had the Polestar optimisation software installed on my 2012 XC70 by my local Volvo dealer. It cost me £675, inc VAT which I can recover, so for £562 I have the uprated software and I am very pleased with it. I'll not say that it is the best value for money but since there is little choice if you want the genuine Volvo software which cannot be overwritten when software updates are made I will only make judgements about what it does rather than what it costs.

The performance is definitely improved. My car is an auto and the acceleration in "D" is now sufficiently good to eliminate the need to drop into "S" mode for rapid take-off or overtaking. If I do use "S" mode, it accelerates quicker than I am likely to need it to. I'm sure that there are track style ECU rewrites that lay down a lot more power but I'm satisfied that this Polestar upgrade give me more than enough extra power for road use, stays in the ECU after software upgrades and is recognised by my insurers as a Volvo specification. In reality my "Grandad Wagon" can now take on BMWs, Audis and the like and give them a real surprise!

Since you have a D5, I presume you now have 230 hp/470 Nm, right?

Nov 2020 lloyds @ Carlisle had mega cheap deal... like £350ish. I initially bought it but had to give backword as AVIVA would not insure the car with it installed. - Gutted.

Perhaps worth a call???

Cheers
Bob

Aviva have become extremely unfriendly and I'd advise you to keep the Polestar and change your insurers. Most insurers see the Polestar addition as a Volvo upgrade and if you make a point of describing it as an engine optimisation for economy they often don't even charge for it. I wouldn't be without the Polestar upgrade. It transformed my car from ordinary to special.
