I was chatting to the tester at the vehicle inspection station here in Switzerland and he says the Police send in cars for inspection all the time where the policeman sees the car has an LED bulb fitted in an obvious incandescent lamp fitting.

The inspectors fail the car.
The car owner has to change the lamps back to standard incandescent.
And then he is allowed to drive again....

What he does after the inspection, no-one knows, until the next time he gets caught by the policeman....

I have 2 of the 70 cars fitted with the ABM projectors and HIDs. They are useless from experience. You are better off shelling out on a set of Crystal Jewel headlamps and fitting decent halogen bulbs or a 35w 5000K HID kit in that.

I have a set on my C70 and while not as good as the CJ that were on when i bought the car (sadly in RHD variant, while I need LHD), they are better than the normal non-CJ lights.

You asked for retrofitted projectors, that is what they are.

Whilst I have upgraded all of my lights as best as I can (e.g using anti glare H7R for the reflector HIDs and premium kit etc), the only car I have had where the standard halogen lights were just OK was a 2013 Astra GTC.

I feel that all people will do at MOT test time, if it gets to zero tolerance is pop the halogen bulb in for the test and refit their LEDs or HIDs as soon as they get back home.

Appreciating that there are legalities, modifications can be done well and poorly. When they are done poorly without any thought and care, its these that cause issues. Along with this when people incorrectly fit bulbs and drive arounf with mis-aligned headlights. There are many new cars which have headlights that are blinding (some new Audi's for example) which make you think how those could have been certified/approved. Yet having my C70's pass me in the opposit direction or follow me when the other half drives it, there is no issue at all with the 35w HID kit in the ABM projectors.

Yep I assume so, do you happen to know what they're called / where to get them please?

If you search for ABM projectors, or projector lights for Volvo C/S/V70, you will find them, I am in Sweden so don't know where to get them cheapest/best in the UK.

Here they are around 2,200 SEK for the pair in LHD.
