Default Sc-901 replacement

Hi - I was hoping somebody may be able to help me with some advice on changing my SC-901 cd player in my 1999 C70. I have bought an aftermarket double din DVD/CD player. Unfortunatley I bought it off ebay and there is no refund or exchange on the unit which when arrived I found out was smaller than the standard hole left by the SC-901 unit. Does anybody know the measurements for the SC-901 and where I can buy a cage and facsia that would allow me to install a head unit that measures 178Wx100Hx169Lmm into the original SC-901 slot. This is a link to the new DVD/CD player I have bought - I know I will need adapter leads to fit this unit as well. ANy help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

seems to be varying sizes of DD stereos

just looked up a few

Quote:
Kenwood DNX 5240BT Double Din Car Stereo

Dimensions (WxHxD): 182 x 112 x 158mm
Quote:
Alpine CDE-W203Ri Double Din Car Stereo

Dimensions

* Din Size: 2
* Chassis Size (W x H x D) mm: 178 mm x 100 mm x 160 mm
* Nose Piece Size (W x H x D) mm: 170 mm x 96 mm x 25 mm
I havent measured a SC??? stereo to see its size, but thier is 12mm variance in height of those two, yours is listed as same size as the alpine, any pics of how bad fitment is, and a side by side picture of sc901 against you new one

Got a similar unit.
The unit is the correct size but the fascia is too small.
I got one of these;

Fits perfect into the console but had to trim the apperture slightly to fit the HU.

Hi all and thanks for the replies. Unfortunately my C70 is back at the garage where I bought it under warranty as the Emissions sensor warning light came on. Seems to be a problem with the Lamda sensor but having replaced the old one with both a universal (these dont work on the 1999 model) and a Volvo sensor it is still bringing up codes so the garage owner is looking into it. Looks like this is going to take at least a week to sort! Not a great start to owning this car. ANYWAY - back to the stereo. As I dont have the car I cant measure the din hole or the SC-901 stereo (this is with the stereo repair guy). Thankfully the guy who is repairing the old stereo assures me there is a cage and facia to make this new head unit fit - we will see. I will post pics and review once its all done, if I ever get my motor back.

Hi everyone. OK. Im having real problems with this double din after market head unit. Having found the correct facsia and cage to make this unit fit the audio specialist is now telling me that I can't use the orginal amp without re-wiring the whole system. I don't believe this and wanted to know if anyone has step by step instructions on how to make this all work. I want to retain the use of the Volvo amp but install my new unit. The new unit is pre-amped and has RCA outputs. Can anyone help????

I think I need this lead to make sure I can power the unit from the amp:
http://www.quickbrickmotorsports.com/prod_dincable.html

Would this be the only cable I would need to fit this stereo:

Any help would be massivley appeciated!!!!
