just looked at your picture:
1) The TCV has 3 vac hoses coming off it already where do these go? 2) 2 yellow lines for turbo vac, thats not right 3) If the vac lines from the TCV are connected to the turbo already are they the right way round? Do you have any codes? Simon |

Hey !
1. One hose goes to the pipe that comes off the ACL, the other 2 I am holding in my hand. (Now attached to the Wastegate and that little nipple under the turbo charge pipe) Yellow and red. 2. One Yellow line active... I just connected it to the wastegate. The hose that was there before (see 2nd pic) wasn't connected to anything. Cowboy job. 3. You mean yellow-wastegate, red-turbine housing and blue-air hose? Yes, should be right now but still no boost and extremely poor performance. I have code P0017 which is timing/camshaft/crankshaft related. Do these "talk" to the TCV somehow. Last edited by Volvoline; Aug 9th, 2011 at 22:29. |

Out of interest does your car have VVT and has the cambelt been changed recently? |

as your car was running correctly before this happened, have you checked the timing? it could have slipped a tooth, this would give the same symptoms. It would also be advisable to get a boost guage fitted too see exactly what the turbo is doing, im assuming you have checked for vac leaks also before replacing? If there is no boost being produced it could be a number of things: Boost leak main pipes Vac leak recirculation valve diaphram (not very commom) knackered TCV Start with the free/cheap stuff Simon |

Did you get around replacing the camshaft position sensor with the one I've sent you?

!
Do you mean a visual check of the cambelt ? I can do that. Am I looking for a slipped tooth ?
I am 99% sure I have no turbo leaks, and 100% sure no vac leaks. The Turbo worked so far without the TCV (lol) so I guess it cound't be the ultimate reason ? I will try to reconnect the battery tomorrow morning.. Last time I got that code and power loss- it worked. Maybe now with the TCV connected it won't come back anymore (If it ever works again) Will report back in 8 hours ! THANKS ! edit: gatos - nope, 960kg suggested that it would ruin the whole thing without the housing etc... I am not so sure about this area of the engine so I just left it, having no symptoms that require messing with it.... (Until now) |

Turbo back on, light is reset and now stable.
This is after Battery Out for the night. Hopefully with the new pipe arrangement it won't come back, although the fault code suggested Timing issue. Other than that timing belt appears to be fine.... We are left with crank, cam sensor and tensioner if it comes back again, all of these cost over 200 pounds each. Wish me luck ! |
