my new V40
I've just got hold of a 2001 V40 2LTR ,
It appears to be in quite good condition and has low( for a Volvo) mileage for a car that's that old, it does have some issues though , but none I can't fix, The brakes were poor, very very poor so as they are quite worn, I decided on a pad and disc replacement, as it has had recent advisories on MOT about brake travel being long, I eventually found out why, the front drivers side bleeder was sheered, the rest though were ok, so i managed to bleed the system as well as I could, the fluid as almost black, so overdue for changing, i got another second hand calliper but that one also had issues, bleeding bleeder is seized, so I in the end ordered 2 new front callipers and sliding pins, all told everything so far has been about £180 for new discs and pads, all round and two new front calipers, And now here's the interesting thing, it has a very interesting registration, it starts V40 |

One other thing, concerning the DVLC , Is it still taking 4-6 weeks for the V5 to come back from Swansea? i sent off for the V5 on 16th May ( old one had been lost ) and so far i have not had the replacement , When i bought the car, i tried to get it changed at the post office but for some reason it was declined and i was told i would have to send of to DVLC, I have done a hpi check, the cars not stolen, written off got any markers against it, so i can't think why there should be a problem, is it because it has a personalised number plate ?
