C30 Audio Conundrum
Hi there,
I have had a 2012 C30 R-Design D3 for a few months now and am loving the car. Best I've had for a long time (although the competition isn't great) but there is one niggle that is really doing my head in - the radio. Obviously my car was specced poorly originally because of all the options the original buyer selected the better radio was not one of them which leaves me with no aux port and a radio that gets signal every now and again which also rules out an FM transmitter. Any ideas on how to retrofit an aux cable or upgrading the phone bluetooth? I know there's that £800 android thing but that seems a bit extreme for a £6k car. Would it be possible to go to a scrappy and find all the kit (even from an S40 as more common)and have it swapped over? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because having to wear headphones in the car is not ideal to say the least. Many thanks! |

Does yours not have bluetooth music streaming?
I know the older C30s only had bluetooth phone capablity but 2011 onwards had phone and music streaming and did away with aux/USB ports on the boggo stereo. My house mate's 2012 C30 R-design just auto sync's and can control music from the steering controls. |

My car is a 2011 sorry so maybe it is the last of the old style stereo's. I have bluetooth for phone calls but no option for streaming and no aux port. The only options on the centre console is Radio Phone and CD. Took me by surprise when I bought it as sold my 2012 Focus to buy it and that had full connectivity. Once I saw it had bluetooth I assumed. Bad move as it turns out. I've tried apps (sound quality is worse than a phone call), FM transmitters (the signal on actual radio stations is terrible so even worse through the transmitter) so that is leaving me with the option of ripping it out and transplanting a less bog standard one. Could be ruinous mind. |
