Which area are you spraying to make the noise go away? Sounds loudest at the cam sprocket end of things from the video.

Where did you spray the WD-40?
You can dismount the accessory belt and se if the noise disappears.

I sprayed where the belt goes round the alternator which stops the noise straight away (for a day, then comes back).to me the sound seems to be coming from further back though on the same side.

yes thanks , computer needed restarting .. it is a clattering , so is it the valve on top clattering , or the balls loose in one of the belt tensioners or the alternator one way clutch ? Best to take off the AUX belt and try it ... and check the alternatior pulley one way clutch and the Aux belt tensioner pulley bearing , it should turn freely and smoothly and should have a little rock side to side.

If the tensioner pulley is moving at idle and it appears to be at six seconds in, my money is on the alternator freewheel.

Not being too handy with the tools are you saying to replace the alternator?
Thanks

No, just the freewheel pulley. As Clan suggested, remove the aux belt and check the pulley. It should be free one way. You could ask someone to stop the motor as you look at the belt. The pulley should not jump around and the innards of the alternator should run on for about a second after the belt stops.
While the belt is off check all the pulleys. The a/c compressor clutch bearing can go off. It is typically noisy only when the clutch is disengaged and it tries to freewheel, the noise then stops when the a/c compressor engages.
