Default 50k Drive service costs?

Just wondering what folks have been charged for 50k service costs at main dealer and independents?

My V50 Drive is about 1k away from needing this service. Have got a Volvo extended warranty so need to ensure the service is done properly or at least by Volvo dealer

Thanks
Dave

My V50 DRIVe is going in to the Volvo main dealer next month for a service, mileage is 36K. Dealer has quoted around £400 for service, aircon service, brake fluid change and MOT.

Default Service

It is not the mileage that counts as such it is the time .Ie if you have done 18000 miles you have to have a service and also if it is 12 months since the last 1 you need to have it serviced. So if you only do 7000 miles a year you still have to have a service as per the Volvo instructions. This means belts and things have to be changed etc and the 4 th service costs a lot of money (at least £800) because of the things that have to be done irrespective of mileage. It is really annoying that if you are a low mileage driver you still have to have high mileage services in effect.

According to the Volvo service price indicator the 4 year/50k mile service is £295 for a V50 DRIVe.

Yrs 1,2,4 & 5 are minor; year three has engine filters (fuel, air) and if applicable fuel additive (ADM) and year six has, if applicable, DPF replacement. The whole cycle then repeats and at year 12 (nominally 150k) timing and aux' bets are replaced too. [The Service Price Indicator lists this as a £2,500 service, so about the same as the value of the car ... !]

Except; the timing/aux belts change cannot exceed 100,000 miles, DPF is done at 75,000 irrespective of age and ADM liquid at 37,500 irrespective of age.

If you have a Volvo warranty you normally get a 1 month/1,000 miles grace period; if you're a month/1,000 miles late your warranty potentially expires.

Thanks everyone. Forgot to mention it's a 2012 model so dry DPF. Cam belt is 7 years or 87500 miles so a little way off yet. Need to check the warranty booklet to see if Volvo dealer is required. Not sure if extended warranties are cover by the same legislation as factory ones ie being able to use any garage

Extended warranty and recovery warranty are not covered by Block Exemption rules, so if it says Main Dealer then them's the rules.

I was on Selekt' and that certainly applied to me.

Independent is quoting £168 while main dealer is £276.

Will probably stick with the main dealer as we're looking to change soon and some of the dealers we've spoken to specifically asked if it was main dealer serviced so the £100 or so quid I'll save by going to an independent may be wiped off when changing.

Test drove a 2 year old Discovery at the weekend. Loved it and it is the size of vehicle we need. Unfortunately the near £40k cost is shocking!

Also looked at a Touareg but was shocked to find it's hardly any bigger inside than the V50.
