I did see something online about this, is that expensive? It wouldn’t invalidate an MOT or anything and would mean the light doesn’t come on?

As an update, Rybrook once again informed me the goodwill expired in 2019 for the EGR valve and 2018 for the EGR Cooler. She then ran it through her global goodwill thing and it said zero contribution but has given me the number for Volvo itself, so I will try there as told them already paid out £2000 since September on this car, £1300 to fix the EGR valve which is known manufacturing issue along with the EGR Cooler! However, FSH but only 2 from volvo, 1 dealer and the rest indepdent and the 147k on clock, think it’ll be a no go

Thanks. My car is 2014 with 147k on clock (spent 3 years as company car by the looks of it). FSH but only 4 of the 10 stamps are Volvo dealership. Rest independent and that is why she said it says no that post, it was 95k with full dealership. I am calling Volvo direct this morning and pleading my case with them.

OMG - Volvo UK told me very unlikely, even though 4 out of 10 stamps and 80k worth of mileage was dealer…but he would try as the search yesterday by Rybrook had been on one using AI so he said to try using the other kind where a human reads the report. He just called me back saying he spoke to Rybrook, and also his manager and Volvo are going to cover 100% of the replacement for the EGR Cooler!!! It’s booked in on the 21st Feb!! I could not be happier!

Excellent news! Thanks for reporting back, hopefully these successes will help out others in a similar situation.

Thanks- yes, and a huge thanks to this forum for giving me the advice and info needed to do it! Saving me possibly about £700 (guessing that’s the cost of the cooler plus the modified pipework etc that needs to go with it)

So further to my issues reported a while back, the car is booked in with Volvo tomorrow to be looked at. However, I decided to put some premium diesel in the car and since then the engine warning light has gone off. Whether the light going off and the change in fuel are related I dont know, but the light has been off for about 3 weeks now.

I did clear the error first time it happened and it was ok for a couple of weeks then came up again, but this time I left it so that Volvo could see it on.

My question is, do I still keep the appointment with Volvo tomorrow and pay the 99 quid for them to basically read the codes that I have already read, its about a 3 week wait time to get a booking with Volvo which is a bit of a pain.

I rang Volvo and the guy helpfully said its upto me.
