Yes - loved the car to drive. Unfortunately two door now unsuitable for needs. Otherwise I would have been happy with it for avery long time.
It will manage your shopping !

We did have two cars - my wife used a mercedes a class which had been her late father's, so choice available.

I had a C30 2.0l petrol for 7 years and more than 200.000 km (125.000 miles).

Not once did I regret buying the engine or car. The engine was good for some 50 mpg (when driven correctly! And that isn't kidding!), would easily achieve a 40+ MPG rating on normal driving. Was comfortable enough, would corner well, was reliable (the car had no troubles for around 125.000 miles, then a lambda sond packed up) and cheap to run.

I knew what to expect regarding the boot and space. Never did I feel it was too small (enough space for 3 people plus luggage for 2 weeks holiday!). The size was quite ideal to be honest. The only reason I sold it: I really wanted a Jaguar XJ which lasted 8 days

I'm considering another one, but as a 2.0D without DPF.

I knew what to expect - at that time we could choose between two cars for differing needs. When one went the impracticality of the C30 was highlighted. It is a very small boot.

Check that on the sixth service DPF has been replaced as scheduled. I hadn't (ignorance)and it cost a lot of money (around £1000).

Why replace it when not there? Hence the lack of a DPF

I appreciate I may be/am slow on the uptake. Replacement of the DPF is on the service schedule for my C30. This came up on information before the service.

It was replaced by the main dealer because it was there.

Am I missing something ? I thought all diesel engines after a certain date were fitted with a DPF, EU regulation.

It it has been removed then there are a number of undesirable consequences.

I realise you have a petrol so not relevant to your car. However it is relevant if choosing a C30 whether to have diesel or petrol.

Some Volvo's with the 2.0D engine were not fitted with a dpf when they left the factory and were still Euro IV compliant. I had a 2008 model year V50 2.0D which was not fitted with a dpf. I assume what the above poster means is that he is looking to get a C30 2.0D not fitted with a dpf.

That is an interesting piece of information, thanks.

No, I am not looking to get another C30 - it is not a suitable car for my current needs.

Nor would I like another diesel. Totally my mistake buying - I do not do sufficient mileage to justify additional expenses. Fortunately since owning the car I have gone on a number of motoring forums to increase my, still limited, knowledge.

On the subject of 2.0D dpf's this might help:

I echo what Daim said.....

My 1.8 C30 R-Design returns 40+ MPG despite having the much maligned Mazda/Ford engine.... and the boot space is more than enough for my needs and has more than enough space to fit 3 adults + luggage when we head off to the airport

I repeat my praise for the car. However, the boot space is limited.
