Default TD-603 channels for blue tooth

Hello everyone.

I am adding a blue tooth receiver to my head unit and was hoping someone whom has done this before can chime in.

I have been trying to find the left and right preamp channels to tap into for the receiver outputs. I also need to find out whether or not I need to remove and other items online before the preamp.

Again, if anyone has any experience or can provide some help, I will be greatly appreciative.

Thank you!

It may be possible but might require modification to mute the radio if you have no aux (CD changer). If you Google 'Add bluetooth to 1990 Becker car radio' you will get lots of options, including a full tutorial.

There are companies that do it but they are expensive - 250 pounds plus.

Thank you for the reply. There’s definitely lots of info about this with other radios not specific to the Volvo. I have researched quite a bit.
I understand I will lose my cassette channel and I’m ok with that. I am needing to find the L and R outputs from the cassette and I can’t seem to locate them.
I know a user on here Jungle_Jim has done this which is where I got the idea. However I cannot send him a private message until I get to 30 posts. Unfortunately I don’t have much to talk about lol.
I will keep trying though.

Maybe you could find out which manufacturer made the TD-603 for Volvo, I thought Becker but possibly not.

Edit - looks like it was made by Alpine - so Google add bluetooth to Alpine 3533180

Yes - I did put a Bluetooth unit in a TD-603 last year - and - it's been working fine for a year! It's great - I recommend doing it. If you'd like more information I'm happy to give advice etc - hopefully saving you time. I have photos of that project - and did mean to do a 'how-to' thread.

I'll PM you contact details off-forum.

Thanks
John

Hi Ady

OK - yes this conversion is cheap - but a bit of work with some improvising!

I will try to make a how-to thread with photos very soon.

First thing however - how are the electrolytic capacitors on the main board? - some of them might be leaking or bulging after 30 years - that needs looking into. First cap to check is the biggest one towards the rear of the board - might be 2200uf. In fact I replaced most of the electrolytic caps on the main board - given their age - to return the functioning of the power supply and amplifier circuits back to how they should be. If not, the stereo may still work, but there may be hissing noise or dull audio because the caps have drifted out of spec.

Thanks for the reply John.
Cant wait to see the guide/photos - even if its above my skill level id like to give it a go- will be so much cleaner solution than aftermarket head units etc.

Default td 603 opened up

Hi John
I've opened it up looking for any issues - I do have an issue with the left side speakers seem to be quiet (clean but quiet )
Any pointers ?
