850 T5 engine / gear box vibration.

Hi there,

My first post in 2 years of owning a 96 t5 estate, solved alot of issues thanks to a lot of familiar names here on this forum.
Now to my Problem
Today when I came to a stop with my foot on the brake in drive there was a rumbling vibration coming from the engine bay area, when I selected N or P the noise went completly, also no noise in reverse.
I also noticed when driving there is no noise until the car comes to a complete halt and holding it on the foot brake. I think there may be a slight "new" resonance when accelerating hard but the car is not down on power at all.
Any help is gratefully recieved as this is a new one to me.

Changed it last year with a normal rubber one, seems strange that it only does it in FWD selected gears and not reverse.

Hi Brian,

Spoke to Braydon Motors who are very helpful, guy reckons it could be the front lower engine mount judging by age and mileage, I have tryed puting car in drive with bonnet up to see how much roll there is from the block once drive is taken up but its hard to judge. Still seems a weird rumble for an engine mount, hope its not the auto box.

I hope that the engine mount(s) do sort the problem. A recon. gearbox would be a nasty start for the New Year.

Hi Brian,

Took Advice from "Bay 13", very helpful guy. Took drivers side wheel off and stuck a pry bar through the stangely named FWD engine mount just aft of the crank pulley and it does seem very spongy, will try this one first, thanks for your input,

I've ordered from them a few times, no problems to report. Standard shipping takes 2 weeks, express is 3 days. If you complete the order form it will show you the various shipping options and prices before you actually place the order.
If Eurocarparts have your correct mount they maybe easier. There are 3 different front engine (under the crank pulley) mounts. ECP has 2 of them and I needed the 3rd.
