Default hard wire dash cam

Hi has anybody wired a dash cam on the 1995 940. I have been trying to find the information but with no luck. I want to hide the wires inside the windscreen/door pillar trim and run it into the fuse area. I have tried to remove the whole of the ashtray/raddio trim but can only get as far as the ashtray removal. I'm sure I am missing something somewhere but no idea as to what. any info any member can give would be very much appreciated.

I've not done this myself yet, but I'm planning to.
You should be able to wire it directly to the wires connected the rear of the front cigarette lighter socket. I know it comes out easily enough because I removed one for cleaning last week.

If you first remove the cigarette lighter, you can then remove the small square bit of plastic trim which surrounds the socket. It only clips in, so you just have to pull it out.
Once it's out of the way, you should see 2 phillips head screws. Remove them both, then the cigarette lighter surround should pull out of the centre console enough for you to disconnect the spade connector wires. Then you can wire into them, run the cable where it needs to go, then refit the lighter socket etc.
The only awkward bit I found was refitting the square bit of trim with the round hole, because by the time I got round to that, I'd forgotten which way up it went. Don't worry though. It only goes in one way, and it's easy enough to work out.

I have done this. Mounted behind the mirror, wires under the windscreen trim and down the pillar.

Remove the plastic cover under the drivers area and route +ve wire to the fusebox area. Connect the negative somewhere under the dash. Use a fuse "piggyback" adapter to add in an extra fused connection for your camera +ve.

Note it's a bit tricky with the depth of the fusebox cover and the weird angle of the fusebox to find a switched +ve source that will actually clear, but I found one. I can check which one I used later if you want.

Default Telephone connector

Not sure a bout a 95 model, but my 98 LPT has a two prewired connectors for a telephone (yellow) and for accessories (black), located beneath the glove compartment, behind the panel.

Is there enough space behind the ashtray to fit a Nextbase hardwire kit, this part that goes into a fuse is the possible issue

The one you've shown is the mini-blade type fuse and holder, i don't know if that's what you mean by a problem?

If so, this one is the correct size :

As for the wiring, it's easy enough tucked behind trim etc fairly quickly.

I just picked a photo to show the rough shape, it would be the one supplied with a Nextbase 212 dash cam.
