Volvo 1993 960 2.9 estate, cruise control
Can some one please advise me where the vacuum pipe goes.
From the back end of the vacuum servo diaphragm bellows unit, (the one that pulls the throttle open), there is a small black vacuum pipe which I assume goes to the vacuum pump unit (or similar) to control speed when required. But I cant find where it goes to. Can someone with a 960 have a look and get back to me please? Thanks Raymond. |

Not on a 960, but on my 740td it goes to a T piece, which then goes to both the vacuum pump (which on mine and on a 940 I looked at) is mounted on the passenger side inner wing) and the pedals.

Thanks Tofu, the 960 is different....but I've found it!
The cruise control vacuum pump is located down low and attached to the n/s front suspension tower, and just above the n/s chassis beam. There is an electrical connection to it that supplies power to the vacuum motor. Right underneath it there are 2 vacuum connections, one of those goes to the vacuum servo diaphragm bellows unit. But to get access to these 2 pipe stubs, you have to remove the pump unit. There are 3 screws that attach the pump to the suspension tower and when its loose, its easy to attach the vacuum pipe. I suggest when replaced the 2 easily accessible screw are sufficient since the bottom one is almost impossible without the engine out! Thanks anyway for your help. |
