XC90 T8 charging
just got my first hybrid, an xc90 T8
however, have just been told that i can't charge it using an extension lead. Is that true or volvo just being picky? how about a heavy duty extension lead? would that work? |

They're not being picky - you really can't!
Youve bought a car that cost upwards of £70,000 when new - spemd a few more quid and get either a proper charge point or a high current outdoor socket installed.

I've been running a T8 granny charger for 2 years via a custom socket acting as an extension lead, never had an issue, multiple charges a day sometimes too and in all weathers via a dri-box. If you feel the extension leads plug or socket being slightly warm about an hour or so into the charge, then it's fine, provided it's not hot to touch, in which case you have a low quality extension.(I would use a 1 gang extension not a reel if you can, or make your own lead using heavy duty duraplug ends from Screwfix and at least 1.5mm 3 core flex ) It's not the first time familyman has quoted the price of purchasing these new SPA models to new people asking questions here about the new models, so please ignore that as he obviously doesn't own a new one if cost comments are thrown around. |

That's the sort of duraplug ends I was referring to! |
