Quick advice re. winter tyres
I bought a set of winter tyres and alloys for my 2012 V70 and was going to put them on my 2015 XC70. The alloys are fitted with 225 / 50 R17 tyres (standard for my V70) but noticed that my XC70 has 235 / 55 R17 tyres.
Can I fit the 225 / 50 R17 wheels? |

That might help. Edit, looks like not fitting, too far out.

I had just been out and measured the diameters and it looked too far out to be honest. They recommend no more than 2.5% and mine is almost 5% so I think I'll give it a miss |

They will fit as the bolt pattern is the same, but being smaller circumference you will notice that:
- The gearing will be slightly lower - Your speedo will over read by an additional 5% - they might look odd in the XC70 arches with the higher ground clearance etc. However if the freezing rain and snow comes.... I would fit them quick if you just have summer tyres on the XC. Having winter tyres on the white stuff will outweigh the disadvantages...

You can fit them if-
The load rating is appropriate to the vehicle first and foremost. You inform or consult insurance company as it is a modification of the vehicle due to a change from factory spec. As said above, speedo will read higher, not a big problem, and may look a little small. What load rating are the new tyres and your current tyres/spec on tyre info plate? |

They are extra load tyres but I'm not going to fit them as they are so much smaller than the originals.
It is still running on the original M&S tyres although the tread is getting low, but still legal, after almost 45k miles |

Hi.
Hopefully no one will but if they do have any issues around insurance for winter wheels / tyres then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan. |
