Water Ingress - Am I missing a part ?
I have a water leak on my Volvo xc60 (2011) - front passenger footwell. I have had the window rebonded as it was loose. However , I believe it may still be coming in or it is taking an inordinate amount of time to dry !
Unfortunately I can't find a picture of what parts should be under the front window scuttle panel. I have seen a few pics of volvo s70-80's etc that seem to have a cover and a splashback over the top of the air inlet to prevent water from coming down into the car (see pic2) but my xc60 doesn't seem to have anything (pic1) . Am I missing something please (cover / splashback) ? Other ideas welcome |

Could be a blocked sunroof drain hole if you have a sunroof?

Different possibility... on my other car, a VW Tiguan, I suddenly had a bad problem with a lot of water in the front passenger footwell. Turned out there was some plug or other under the car/wheel arch which had come out, and water was spraying up from the road and into the footwell. Was an easy fix once the garage found that out. Clearly, a different car altogether, but just offering the non-expert suggestion that focusing on the window might be the wrong place!

No sun roof. Had window rebonded hoping it is fixed though never seemed to dry. Have carpets lifted out now - took out about 6 pints of water- the carpets were dry to touch as they have a rubber/ plastic back ! Anyway will now be able to see if I have an additonal problem or it is just the residual rain prior to the window rebonding. All floor bungs seem in place.
Good video oof here on how to remove carpets and just how much water they hold. Caused numerous fault codes before being taken up and dried. now all okay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiq9DtIdd3k&t=1019s Last edited by taggarc1; May 3rd, 2024 at 13:50. |
