Default XC90 T8 high voltage fuse blown!

Well, two years and a few days old, 42k miles on the clock and the software niggles finally seem to have gone away..... then last week charging pauses when plugged in. Quick call into dealers last week for diagnosis and thoughts were main HV fuse has blown behind charging unit, need to order one in....back to dealers today for repair and just had a call that the fuse has been changed...and it's blown again straight away indicating a short circuit!

Now I'm no sparky but I would try and figure out why a fuse has blown rather than just replace it, especially on a bit of kit like this! So car is being kept in overnight and they will have another look tomorrow.

I charge everyday and it's been interesting the week I've been running around without charging, mpg has dropped to 27/28 from the 40+ I usually get.

Anyone up for a wager upon when I will be charging again?

yeah, more the case why would a dealer not hold a fuse in stock??????

So it has a short somewhere, lets hope it is not a battery?

Certainly would like to know why, and what had to be done to solve it.

I charge my XC60 T8 at least one every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day

Fuses can also fail for mechanical reasons: a fracture or crack in the fuse, a physical weak point, etc.

A open circuit fuse means it has failled, but doesn't always mean it has blown.

To be fair to them if I was doing any electrical work 12v or 230v then my first action for a blown fuse would be to replace it and see what happens next....

Let us know what happens. Mine is now 2.5 years old and at 68k miles. I am also considering buying it from the lease co. next March....

If he is still under warranty he might be better off with a new battery!

I've got the same issue on mine, they originally thought the fuse was blown but replacing it didn't fix the charging issue so they have now ordered a new charging unit. Just trying to find time to book it in, it's been a very expensive couple of weeks running with no charge in the battery!
