I suggest if you think that highly of other drivers and technology, you never take a commercial flight. You’d be shocked how little the pilot touches the controls (including landing and braking) 😂

PA is just another driving tool and on dual carriageways and motorways I find it very useful. I do keep my hand on the wheel 99% of the time, but only resting there in anticipation of some other driver or accident requiring me to take emergency corrective action. I switch in and out of pilot assist, sometimes also adaptive cruise, as I interpret the road conditions and suitability. Sometimes I find that adaptive cruise brakes too often for my taste when heading slightly down hill in traffic, so I switch it off and anticipate more and brake far less often than it does.

Clearly, you'd be insane to drive down the motorway using lane assist to keep to you right, so maybe that's what they think is happening. I like PA2 and used it a lot, especially in mile after mile of 50-zone on the motorway. I find it pretty relaxing. As I said though, I've found it to be a bit off recently, so much so that I'm fighting the car a bit, which has the opposite effect. In both cases though, you need your hand on the wheel. I personally don't think Volvo do enough to explain all the tech and its intended uses when you pick it up. Mine didn't, but then I'd been through manual before I picked it up because I'm married with two kids and and therefore have little else to do in the evening Last edited by Milliner; Sep 17th, 2018 at 10:04. |

The real fun of it is can you hop in the back, buckle up, unbuckle and hop back into the driver's seat before it switches off 😉

or move over to the passengers seat, and sit in it, like the Tesla driver did, and got filmed, I do believe he went to jail for it, or it was huge huge fine.
I never use it. |

At low speed, I like to get out of the car and run along side it before leaping back in!
