Volvo XC60 2.4 D5 SE Lux 205hp 2011
Hi
I'm thinking of purchasing this car from Harratts. What are the crucial things to look out for? https://www.harratts.co.uk/used-vehi...01809010053543 TIA |

I believe the aux belt is meant to have been replaced at 54k miles and it can do a surprising lot of damage if it fails.
Windscreen can unbond and leak, resulting in damp front carpets. Apparently you can feel movement when you push against the screen from inside. Tonneau/load covers are often missing. Sat Nav maps could be a fair bit out of date (you cannot update these yourself unless the system has been modified by a dealer)

Thanks for this. As part of the sale agreement, I made a condition that the belts and tensioner must be changed as per the updated maintenance plan. When I collected the car I asked to see a copy of the job sheet. Here is the list of the parts that they have used. Can someone please verify that indeed the correct parts have been changed? Job Description: Belt change, timing belt kit and aux belt Parts: 31359568 Tooth Belt Kit 31330870 Belt 31325042 Belt I'm not sure when the transmission fluid was changed, is there any way that I could check this myself? The car does jolt when I change over from Drive to Reverse more than I have ever experienced in previous Volvo's, this happens even when stationary. Any advice? Thanks. |

They won't have done the tranny oil as according to Volvo it is sealed for life, what a load of rubbish if you leave it any longer it might damage the box and then it is £££££.

Have the rear bushes checked, they are the same as a Mondeo and only last around 6 years/ 60k miles.
Check the alarm works, the alarm should have a separate sounding module, it doesn't use the horn so getting the horn to sound from the keyfob isn't the same thing as testing the alarm. The alarm has its own battery as well that has a life of around 6 to 7 years, if you get low battery warnings these can refer to the alarm battery. Also check the clutch/dual mass flywheel is ok, it should only slip under the most extreme acceleration and load conditions to protect the crank, otherwise it should not be noticeable at all.
