Yes, there is and from the sound of that thing where you hear a puff/hiss of air for about 2-3 seconds when you start it, it sounds very much like a leaky servo. This will let air into the engine and make it do exactly what you're describing and worse when it's hot.
Two examples of the various valves in the servo hose but don't forget the hose itself could be split, it might be loose in the servo end, on the manifold or anything.

Name and shame brand and supplier please!
I only use the genuine Bosch parts if possible. BTW Saabs use the same part and seems to be a bit cheaper. I last paid £70 for an idle valve, but didn't really need it. Search by the Bosch number and avoid 'equivalents'. Ebay will throw a load of hits at you that arn't the Bosch item. |

Glad you got it sorted! Why did you change the original one?

The one on the car when i got it was tempremental so i got the ebay one. But the first one never displayed the symptoms i had with this one. I did swap them back over to try but no luck. Still ive leant a lot & even made my own fault code flasher. Learning to use it was fun.

I'm fairly sure it isn't just Saab that uses the same EICV, i think a lot of BMW, Porsche, VAG and Vauxhall/Opel models used the same or at least an interchangeable one. Also the dizzy cap and rotor arm on yours is also used by the Porsche 924 and some VW/Audi, same components on mine are used by BMW 6-pots, fuel pumps are used by a lot of similar cars as well and quite often you can find the right part a lot cheaper under a different brand, just a case of knwing what to look for.

It was clean and the arm moved freely but it must of had a electrical fault inside. Yes i saw some 124 ignition modules for porsche and they have two. Wont be getting cheap stuff again more hassle than its worth.

Glad Dave finally hit it right for you. Just that one final clue needed and bingo. Much better response than the 'Wanted Section'! Cheers, Bob
