Sticking on a roof spoiler?

A while back I bought a standard spoiler from a 940 estate sport cheap as both areas where the brackets held it on were broken. I was thinking about bolting the spoiler in place right through it and into the top edge of the boot lid, and filling the holes in before getting it painted to match my car. Is it necessary to bolt it down or would some adhesive be strong enough to hold it on? I'm just worried about it potentially flying off at higher speeds.

Any advice or experience fitting one on with adhesive is appreciated, cheers.

Find a genuine boot spoiler with intact fixing points and use that instead. Will be cheaper in the long run!

Also that way you can get it painted before the final fit so the underside matches the body colour as well.

According to the volvo accessories catalogue they are clipped and taped from factory (~p37/38)

If in doubt use body kit glue, that stuff is STRONG... so wear gloves or you will be picking it off your hands for days.

That kind of suggests the spoiler you've got was pulled off without much care and broke the bits where it should have been stuck to the roof.

Also the fact that roof spoilers are listed with different part numbers to boot (trunk) spoilers suggests it won't be the right one anyway.

Thanks for the replies so far. Basically where the brackets would attach onto the spoiler are damaged, so theres no way to fix the brackets back onto the spoiler. With it being an estate spoiler there is a fairly large amount of surface area for adhesive to stick onto. Read up that Tiger Seal or Sikaflex should hold it to where it wont ever come off again? Anyone had experience with either?

I know these 2 examples are different but the boot spoiler on my 940 saloon had brackets but these were mainly to align.
All the adhesion and “sticking” is done with double sided pads at both ends and the centre.
The roof spoiler on my 960 estate is clipped in with sideway fastening lugs (but I think this is different to a 940 one)

Tiger seal or Sticks like sh*t. Don't plan on ever removing it again intact.
