Default Sign aware cruising speed in XC60

Hey everybody!
I'm about to receive my XC60 T5 very soon, and I'm super excited about .
After watching one video about safety systems in XC90 I began wondering if XC60's have option to adjust currently set cruise control speed based on the speed signs?

There is a topic mentioning this somewhere and I think the consensus was not to have it linked (if it is available). I have found that my speed sign sensor picks up on the side road signs as well and it tells me the speed limit is 20mph when in fact that is for the side road and not the main. If the car was set to maintain the speed according to the sensor I would be having a problem with following traffic. It is a simple matter to push the cruise button when the speed limit is reached and I have the warning sound switched on to tell me of any change in the limit if I haven't seen it .

Round here many of the speed signs are in the wrong place. Our road is a 20mph area but the car doesn't pick it up until halfway along the road as the sign at the start of the road is badly placed. The car park for our village recreation area has a 5mph limit but they put the sign at the exit so the Volvo thinks that I should be doing 5mph as I pull out onto the main road!

The problem seems to be the various Highways Agencies/Departments are not updating the road sign locations as fast as the manufacturers are updating their road sign recognition systems.

I have had a number of scenarios where the RSI hasn’t picked up a sign or there isn’t one in line of sight of the car’s camera.

Driving in France is difficult too, as the speed signs on slip roads (90kph & 70kph) can be picked up by the car, which could be very dangerous if your car suddenly slowed on the main carriageway!

I have also followed a bus in a 20mph area, and the bus was displaying a 60mph sticker on the rear panel which was picked up by the RSI - again could have been nasty!

At the moment, I wouldn’t want to link the cruise control to the RSI system.

Hi, it won't alter your set cruise speed, what it will do is alter your speed limiter automatically if you have that set to on. I find this a great feature ,I always turn it on at start up , it even auto brakes if you are going too fast when hitting a lower speed section of highway.
Here in the Yorkshire dales we have no fixed speed cameras, but do have a fleet of mobile vans and men with tripod based cameras, so the speed limiter is handy up here. I find it great not having to constantly check speedo in 20mph zones.

Not aware you can link the road sign recognition with the ACC. I do use the speed limiter setting before ACC to control my speed and find it works great most of the time. I wish I had used it on the 2 occasions I was nailed for speeding as I am still paying for it on my insurance, even though one of them is over 3 years ago. Although it comes off after 3 years insurance companies have decided they are entitled to penalise you for 5 years.
I am also in Yorkshire and they are very keen on catching speeding drivers. You can drive like an idiot and be fine as long as you do not drive over the speed limit by even small amounts. Not that I feel aggrieved of course!!

Never had an issue with RSI misinterpreting a speed limit - but the roadsign speed adjustment was on (by default..) when I first took possession of the car and boy I'll tell you I was scared sh!tless when it kicked in the first time (as I was approaching a road toll boot doing 130kph it abruptly slowed down to 60kph ) That's when I disabled it and it's been off ever since..

You would think that it would use navigation speed info to adjust the speed gradually- but nope- it will just hit the brakes for you when it sees a sign..

There are too many 20mph zones where I live that actually only apply at school times (or when lights flash) so not surprising that the speed limiter brakes to 20mph when you don't expect it (in the middle of a quiet street on a sunday night)
