escaping wind........
Hi all, i have found a weird piece of pipe that leads from the heater blower housing, straight through the firewall and out into the engine bay, there it just terminates to the open air, its open ended so when the blower fan is on air leaks out of this pipe to the air......this car doesnt have air conditioning but it seems to be a drainage tube, but for what?
any ideas? thanks |

Hi not knowing anything about the aircon setup I can only guess that it's to let the moisture drain when the iced up condensor unit defrosts??
It's quite common to see puddles under most modern cars when they have just parked up. Regards Brian. |

Thanks yes you're right about the aircon condensate when it parks up, but my car doesnt have the aircon its just the standard vents, there was leaves and dust inside the pipe so a blew it clear and bunged a little wad of tissue in the end where the pipe stops inside the engine compartment, now a little more air comes through the vents towards me and passengers rather than escaping out the car. I figured its somesort of escape hole for the air incase all the air louvers and shut and the air has nowhere else to go...who knows thank you for your suggestion :-) |
