2.4 d5 fluctuating rpm
I've been having fluctuating rpm at idle problem for a while, and now I tried to fix it by replacing few parts, but nothing has changed. When looking via diagnostics I can see that rpm fluctuates together with fuel pressure, so I thought it will be failed fuel pressure sensor/regulator, replaced both, still same. Few weeks ago I had 9520 fault it was something with accelerator pedal, looked at accelerator pedal position and without touching it, it was 8%, when pushed to the floor it was ~75%, so recently I replaced accelerator pedal and again nothing has changed, app is still at 8% without touching it, rpm fluctuating.
When driving below 2k rpm car also responds slowly to the accelerator pedal, when I push it even to the floor, car accelerates slowly and as rpm increases towards 2k it accelerates better, but also it accelerates not steady, it feels like there's alot of torque for a moment, then it's gone, then again I can feel it. For latter problem I suppose that could be tcv or clogged turbine geometry, but even if that would be true, could this affect idle rpm? Leak back test results (1st to 5th cyl, in ml): 9, 5, 9, 12, 8 Driving with those problems I've never been in an limp mode, I can easily reach 200km/h speed, driving in 4th or 5th gear above 2k rpm it accelerates easily. I attached screenshot of rpm, fuel pressure graphs. |

I just want to mention a few things...feel free to tell me to jump off a bridge.
1) No recent Volvo diesels in No. America so my knowledge is based on what I read here. 2) How many miles are on your car? TCV failures must fall into some "normal occurrence curve". 3) Any of those apps can be handy but I've read some are incomplete. I hear the real cheap ones can actually damage your car. 4) Guessing and throwing parts at any problem has a low success rate and always a high cost. 5) A Volvo VIDA diagnosis is likely necessary. 6) Your diesels have 2 fuel pumps, no? ...a low pressure one to get the fuel out of the tank and up to the engine and a high pressure one for injector nozzle action. 7) Wouldn't it be funny if your fuel filter or EGR pipe was simply clogged? 8) Leak back test numbers for cyls. 2 + 4 seem out of average. What is that test? |

185k miles, at least dash shows that number. What is the real number who knows. I also suspected tcv, maybe I should try to replace it? I took few apps from junkyard, all of them showed 8%. Yes it has 2 pumps. Fuel filter was replaced couple months ago. I dunno about egr, but there is a little bit of soot in the intake pipe, so I guess it could be clogged. It's 2001 car, would it throw check engine if I blank egr? Or should I clean it?
